Join us as we teach you how to shoot long exposure images on location around Cleveleys and Crosby. This workshop will show you all the tips and techniques needed to produce pin sharp long exposure images. Starting with exposures of around 30 seconds we will then build images and shots than allow for multiple minute exposures which can create striking long exposure images. This part of the UK coast provides a range of interesting photographic opportunities with art installations, sea defenses and breakwaters. We will guide you through the correct camera settings to make the most of the location covering techniques such as long exposures, using ND filters, image composition and focusing techniques. Our follow-on workshop Long Exposures New Brighton then builds on the skills you learn on this workshop.
No matter what your interest or level in photography there is something for everyone to learn on this workshop. This is a great opportunity to learn in a small group and see how to shoot great long exposure images with Nikon School.
We will start the day at Cleveleys photographing the many interesting locations to be found on the coast. As the tide height changes we will then get chance to explore new compositions and image ideas. Our plan is to spend the morning around the coast at Cleveleys however we may explore further depending on the light and weather conditions. After lunch at a local cafe or restaurant, we will make our way down the coast to Crosby. On arrival and after a safety briefing, we will head out onto the estuary sands to continue to shoot more long exposure images depending on the light and weather.
Fitness: Most of the locations involve relatively short walks. Some of the shots to be taken at Crosby can involve a walk out on wet sand and pebble beaches. Because of this, a moderate level of fitness will be required on this course.
Depending on the weather and light we aim to visit several locations that have been specifically chosen for spectacular photography. Please note that in the event of severe weather the locations may have to be altered at the last minute.
If you would like to borrow any camera and lenses for this course please get in contact with us at [email protected] with your request and we will do our best to bring it along. Please note we will need a minimum of two weeks notice for any requests
Further information with specific joining instructions will be sent nearer the time of the course.
Notes:
Please note that you may have to pay for parking in some of locations. The car parks at both locations offer card or cash payment.
We will endeavour to stop at a local cafe or restaurant for lunch. If you wish to bring your own packed lunch or refreshments with you please feel free to do so.
