With a sport like yacht racing, the only way of getting good photos is to get in the right place and this activity certainly did that. We were taken to location after location where we could see the boats up close, watch them competing and take a whole range of photos, from vistas with dozens of boats to the close-up action on a single deck. Great skipper, first class tuition on hand and excellent fun.

I found the instructor to be very knowledgeable and who demonstrated the various techniques with examples of photos he had to exhibit. slightly disappointed that we could not go away with course material or be made available later for revision and going over various techniques discussed. in a 3 hour course there is a lot to take in and inevitable not all is taken in first time

The Z9 is a complex camera with an instruction book running to over 900 pages. This compares to the D5 manual at less than 400 pages. This course is very valuable in getting familiar with the main functions for still photography.

The Z9 is a camera that can be customised in a myriad of ways to suit the photographers needs. Ricci explained and demonstrated many of the options and helped me clarify how to set up this camera to suit my needs. I was sufficiently impressed to have since signed up for part 2.
